  Applications for the 2025 Camp open December 2024

The WA Youth Cattle Camp opens its doors to 100 competitors each year. Entrants must be between the ages of 8-25 and can choose to compete in either a Beef or Dairy focused program. The WA Youth Cattle Camp is the only camp in Australia to offer both Beef and Dairy options at the one event!

The event traditionally fills it's 100 places in just a matter of days, so save the date in the Calendar and be sure to enter online when entries open.

Indy Smith heads to South Australia

At just 20 years of age, Indy Smith was the 2023 WA Youth Cattle Camp Highest Beef Achiever. Winning the Christopher Ferguson Memorial Award, Indy received a sponsored trip to attend the SA Junior Heifer Expo in July.

 

"I had an absolute blast over in SA and really got the chance to focus on improving my experience in areas I'd hoped to improve in, like clipping and judging. This trip also allowed me to establish and expand on relevant contacts in the beef industry."

Being from the city, opportunities and experiences such as this has fueled my passion to be in the Ag industry." 

Sam Lynch shines at Nationals in Tasmania

After winning the WA State Finals for Beef Junior Judging in 2022, Sam Lynch represented the State at the 2023 National Finals held at the Royal Launceston Show in Tasmania.

 

Sam has been a competitor at the WA Youth Cattle Camp for many years, and in 2023 was highly regarded in the experienced division. Sam placed third overall at the Nationals, a great effort that the Cattle Camp community is very proud of!

Camp Competitors dominate at the Perth Royal Show

The Perth Royal Show is the pinnacle for cattle showing events in WA every year, and this year the State Final line ups where dominated by past Cattle Camp Competitors. 

Results in the Beef Paraders competition were 1st) Zoe Skinner, 2nd) Sam Lynch, 3rd) Connor Burrows,

and in the Beef Junior Judging, 1st) Indy Smith, 2nd) Thomas Spencer, 3rd) Zoe Skinner.

2023 camp competitor Ella Clark also had a very successful year, after purchasing her first Square Meter steer and preparing him for the led steer competition and sale herself, weighing in at 520kg on judging day, Ella claimed the prestigious title of Grand Champion Led Steer for 2023.
